TITUS, as Caesar. Æ Semis (3.47 gm). Commagene mint. Laureate head right / Winged caduceus upright. RIC II--; BMCRE--; Cohen--. VF, brown patina with earthen highlights. Unpublished! ($250) The reverse type and legend of this coin is known for Vespasian (cf. RIC II 794), but is unknown for his son and successor, Titus. Since the obverse legend is also entirely new to us for any of Titus' coinage, what appears at first glance to be a mule pairing an unknown obverse legend with a reverse of Vespasian, while still possible, is in all likelihood an unpublished type.
